M.Y. HIGH SCHOOL Historical Chronicles 14 NOVEMBER 1914 To build the school building Land was acquired for the first time with a revenue free grant obtained land from revenue grant for the first time to build a school building. JUNE 1921 Dahod Vepari (merchant) Mahajan built a 5 room building for a new high school. JUNE 1924 Matriculation class begins. MARCH 1926 The first batch of matriculation sat for the matriculation examination of Mumbai University. 6 MARCH 1944 Dahod Anaj Mahajan took over the management of New High School from Shri Manilal Mehta by paying Rs. 19,001/- 24 OCTOBER 1947 Decision to expand the first school building, stone laying ceremony was done with the auspicious hand of Shri Laxmidas Shrikant. 9 DECEMBER 1949 New High school, Dahod tranformed into a public institution. Establishment and registration of Dahod Anaj Mahajan Sarvajanik Education Society. 6 APRIL 1952 New High school, Dahod’s modern building was inaugurated by Honourable Shri Morarjibhai Desai. Stone laying ceremony of the second school building by Shri Dr. Chamanlal Maheta. 21 JUNE 1953 New high school was renamed as “Mrs. Memunabai Yahyabhai high School. JUNE 1954 The state government started the Technical High School in Dahod in school buildings of society. Commencement of teaching of technical subjects in the school of the society. JUNE 1955 Commencement of Commerce Course. 6 DECEMBER 1955 The Second school building, Radhikaben and Lallubhai Pandya High School, was inaugurated by Honourable Shri Morarjibhai Desai. He laid the foundation stone of Shri Shantaben Nutan Vidyavihar Bhavan. 1956 – 57 First step in the field of higher education Scholarship started for Higher Education. 17 JUNE 1957 Division of first school. Second school, Radhikaben and Lallubhai Pandya High school, started. 11 AUGUST 1957 Well known Doctor Shri Chandravadan P. Munshi inaugurated Dahod Nagar Palika Commerce class. 29 DECEMBER 1957 Honourable Shri Hitendrabhai Desai inaugurated classes of Radhikaben and Lallubhai High school as a Second school. 28 FEBRUARY 1958 Famous social and Educational worker Shri Kamlashankar Pandya laid the foundation stone of ‘Gruh Vigyan’ (Home Science). JUNE – 1958 Organisation and Commencement of Home Science Course. 15 FEBRUARY 1959 Stone laying ceremony of Vyayam Shala (Gymnasium) by Shri Ishvarbhai J. Patel. MARCH - 1959 Dahod became a center for S.S.C. Examination. JUNE – 1959 Commencement of Government Polytechnic. 8 JULY 1959 First Kindergarten (Bal Mandir) – Shantaben Nutan Vidyavihar, started. 8 JANUARY 1960 Second Kindergarten – Shri Dahyabhai Nayak laid the foundation stone of Radhabai Panalal Agrawal Balvidhya Vihar. 14 JUNE 1960 Girls High school was started for std. 8 to 11. JUNE – 1960 Commencement of Industrial Training Institute. AUGUST – 1960 Second step in the field of higher education, special coaching classes started for Arts course. 7 OCTOBER 1960 Shrimati Hansaben Mehta inaugurated the classes of Girl’s High School. 8 OCTOBER 1960 Second Kindergarten – Radhabai Panalal Agrawal Balvidhya vihar was inaugurated by Shrimati Pushpavati Mehta. 7 DECEMBER 1960 Commencement of second Kindergarten – Radhabai Panalal Agrawal Vidhyavihar. 17 DECEMBER 1961 Stone laying ceremony of building of Girl’s High school was done by shree L.A.V. Ayyar, a grandfather of secondary education in Dahod. JUNE – 1962 Girls High school Std. 5 to 11 started. Commencement of the third kindergarten – Bonjibahen Shishu Vidhya Vihar. 13 JUNE 1963 Commencement of primary school and inaugurated by founder of society, Shri Ochchhavlal G. Sheth. (President) 21 AUGUST 1963 Girl’s High School renamed as ‘Navjivan Girl’s High School’. 1 SEPTEMBER 1963 Primary school renamed as ‘Chhotalal Jadavji Nutan Prathmik Shala’. 15 JUNE 1964 Establishment of Arts and Commerce College. 12 JULY1964 Inauguration of the classes of college by Shri Utsavbhai Parikh. 8 SEPTEMBER 1964 College renamed as “Navjivan Arts and Commerce College”. 14 NOVEMBER 1964 The first school - New High School, today well known as Shrimati Memunabai Yahyabhai High School, completed 50years of its (inspirative) existence. 18,19,20 DECEMBER 1964 Gujarat state “Pancham Krida Mahotsav” was celebrated in Dahod by the invitation of the society. 26 APRIL 1965 Stone laying ceremony of Navjivan Arts and Commerce college, Inauguration ceremony of Navjivan Girl’s High School. Celebration of “Golden Jubilee festival”. SEPTEMBER 1967 Government of India awarded Shri L.N.K. Ayyar, Principal of R & L Pandya High School conducted by Society, the title of the “best teacher” in recognition of his long-term services. JUNE – 1968 As per the Government policy, Std. 5-6-7 were separated from the secondary school. As a result other three primary schools with std. 5-6-7 were implemented under the control of the principals of the three secondary schools.
